Mention @Singular in a Slack channel to ask a question about your marketing data. The Singular AI assistant answers in the thread, using your own Singular access.
Before you start
- Your Slack workspace has to be connected to your Singular account, and your own Slack account linked once. See Connect Slack and link your account.
- Singular AI must be enabled for your Singular account.
- Invite the app to the channel: type
/invite @Singularthere. Public and private channels both work. The assistant does not answer direct messages.
Ask a question
Mention the app and ask in plain language:
@Singular show me my top 5 networks last week by cost
What happens next:
- The app adds an eyes reaction to your message. That means the question was received and is being worked on.
- The answer appears in a thread and fills in as it is written. Along the way you see the steps the assistant is taking, so you can tell what it is doing.
- When it finishes, the reply ends with an Open in Singular link and Good and Bad buttons.
You can ask for anything you would ask the assistant inside Singular: spend, installs, revenue, ROI, CPI, CTR, retention and re-engagement, broken down by campaign, ad network, app, country, creative, publisher or device. You can compare periods, ask what drove a change, and ask for a table, chart or downloadable report.
Ask a follow-up
Reply in the same thread without mentioning @Singular. The assistant treats your reply as the next question in the same conversation, so short follow-ups work: check it by installs, or now break that down by country.
Two things to know:
- A thread stays open for follow-ups for 15 minutes after the last answer, and every new answer extends it. After that, mention @Singular again to pick the conversation back up.
- Only the person who asked gets follow-ups answered. If a colleague replies in your thread, the assistant does not answer them, because it would be working with your data access rather than theirs. They should mention @Singular to start their own thread.
Tables, charts and reports
Slack cannot display a Singular chart or data grid, so the assistant includes a short preview instead:
- A table shows its first rows.
- A chart shows its values.
- A KPI card shows its numbers.
- A document shows its opening lines.
Up to three previews are included in one answer. Use Open in Singular for the full table, the real chart, and to download the report as CSV, Excel or PDF.
Rate an answer
Use the Good and Bad buttons at the end of a reply. Ratings are counted to help improve the assistant and are not linked to the conversation or to your Singular account.
Continue a Slack conversation in Singular
Conversations you start in Slack also appear in your Singular assistant history, where you can read them, open their reports and download their files. They are read-only there, and Singular tells you so: This conversation started in Slack. Continue it in Slack. To keep asking, go back to the Slack thread.
Messages you might see
- Your Slack account is not linked to Singular yet. The first time you mention the app before linking, you get a message only you can see, carrying a link that connects your account. The link is single use and expires shortly. Once you link, the question you already asked gets answered, so there is no need to ask it again.
- You have sent too many questions in a short time. You can start five questions a minute. The assistant comes back to the question on its own.
- I could not post the rest of that answer here. Slack limits how long a message can be. Long answers are split across several messages, and when an answer still does not fit, open it in Singular to read all of it.
- One question can be up to 8,000 characters.
If the assistant does not answer
- Check the app is in the channel:
/invite @Singular. - Check your Slack account is linked, from the Singular assistant.
- If Singular shows Reconnect Slack or Update Slack app, an administrator needs to complete that first.
