A reference table lets you define custom values for anything tied to your cost metrics. Instead of hardcoding a single number, you set up a table of values that Singular applies as a multiplier or lookup wherever that metric is used.
Common uses include:
- CPI (cost per install) — define your cost per install by app, source, or other dimensions.
- Exchange rates — convert costs between currencies.
- Any other cost multiplier — really, any value that scales or maps onto your cost data.
By default, Singular provides two reference tables: CPI and Partner Fees. If you're on a paid plan and need additional custom reference tables, reach out to support to discuss your use case.
Partner Fees
If your campaign costs include an additional fee, such as an agency fee, you can have Singular add these fees to the costs shown in your reports.
To add a partner fee, go to Settings > Partner Fees and click Add New Row. Specify what the fee is (for example, to add 30% to the cost, enter the value 1.3) and when it should be applied (by Date, App, Source, Sub Ad Network, OS, Platform, Country, and Account ID).
You can import partner fees from a CSV file by going to Settings > Partner Fees and using the Import button. However, the columns have to be the same columns you see on the page, in the same order.
We recommend first clicking Export to download the table in CSV format, then editing the values and/or adding rows, and then using the Import button to import the updated file back into the page.
Note:
- Importing a CSV file will overwrite all current values.
- Do not change the order of the columns in the CSV file.
- Leaving a date range blank will apply the value for All Time.
- Fields entered for App, Source, Sub Ad Network, OS, Device, Country or Account ID must be entered exactly as the values shown in the drop-down menu.
Only one rule can be applied at a time in your Singular dashboard or reports. If you configure two overlapping fees, Singular will apply the first one in the Partner Fees list.
For example, if you configure the two following partner fees, in this order:
- For the app "Candy Rush", apply a fee of 10%
- For the source "AdWords", apply a fee of 20%
If you have a row in your report for the app Candy Rush where the source is AdWords, only the first rule will be applied, and the cost will be calculated with an added fee of 10%.
Cost per Install (CPI) Configuration
When you work with a custom source or a network that doesn't have cost data available, you can use the CPI table. Singular will use your inputs on this page and the installs data it receives to calculate your cost.
CPI stands for "Cost per Install". For networks that are not reporting campaign cost to Singular, you can let Singular calculate the cost by taking the installs as reported by your attribution tracker and multiplying them by a set CPI rate.
To add a CPI rate:
- Go to Settings > CPI Configuration and click Add New Row.
- Set a flat CPI rate by Date, App, Source, Sub Ad Network, OS, Platform, Country, and/or Account ID.
- Refresh your report to see the new configuration reflected in the Cost column.
Note: Make sure not to enter any ad networks for which you already have cost set up in Singular.
If you're moving to a CPA or other model, you will need to end a CPI configuration for that app or network.
To do this, click Add New Row. In the new row, select the relevant app or source. Provide a Value of 0. Under Rule Start Date, add the exact date you'd like the old rule to end and click Save.
You can import CPI rates from a CSV file by going to Settings > CPI Configuration and using the Import button. However, the columns have to be the same columns you see on the page, in the same order.
We recommend first clicking Export to download the table in CSV format, then editing the values and/or adding rows, and then using the Import button to import the updated file back into the page.
Notes:
- Importing a CSV file overwrites all the current values in the table.
- To apply the CPI value to all dates, leave the date range blank.
- When you enter values for App, Source, Sub Ad Network, OS, Device, Country or Account ID, you must enter them exactly as the values shown in the drop down list in the page.
Cost Per Event (CPE) Configuration
When you're running a CPE/CPA (cost per event or action) model and working with an affiliate network or partner that doesn't provide cost data, you can use the CPE Configuration table. Singular will use your inputs on this page — the event and campaign data it receives — to calculate your cost.
This is especially useful in two common scenarios:
- Affiliate networks and partners without cost reporting: if a source doesn't report cost but you're paying out per event or action, you can define that payout in the table and Singular will calculate cost based on the events received.
- Agencies without data connectors: if you work with an agency that can't set up a data connector, you can configure CPE rules at the agency level so cost is still calculated accurately.
A CPE Configuration table lets you define a payout for a specific event (or sometimes called an action) broken down by campaign, source, app, and other dimensions. It's the CPE/CPA equivalent of the CPI table — instead of a flat cost-per-install rate, you're setting a cost-per-event rate. Use it when a partner doesn't report cost data directly, or when you need to formalize a negotiated payout (for example, "$10 for every purchase event from Campaign X").
To add a CPE rule:
- Go to Settings > CPE Configuration and click Add New Row.
- Select the Event Name, Cohort Period and Campaign Name the rule should apply to, along with any other relevant dimensions (App, Source, OS, Country, Platform, Sub Ad Network, Account ID).
- Enter the payout Bid and Currency, and set the Rule Start Date.
- Save your changes and refresh your report to see the configuration reflected in the Cost column.
Yes. If you work with an agency that isn't able to set up a data connector, you can configure CPE rules using Agency ID as a dimension, so cost is calculated correctly at the agency level rather than requiring a direct connector. You will need to ask support to add the Agency ID column to your table.
You can import CPE rules from a CSV file by going to Settings > CPE Configuration and using the Import button. As with other reference tables, the columns must match what's shown on the page, in the same order.
We recommend clicking Export first to download the current table, editing or adding rows, then using Import to bring the updated file back in.
Note: Importing a CSV file overwrites all current values in the table.
If no CPE rule matches a given event or campaign combination, no cost will be calculated for that combination until a rule is added. Use the "General Configurations" FAQs above (e.g., how "0" and "skip" work) if you need to zero out or override a rule for a specific period.
General Configurations
Custom reference tables are available for cases where you need to configure a rule or multiplier specifically for cost. This is useful when you have a source without a data connector, or when you need to apply a specific currency conversion fee. If either of these applies to you, open a support ticket to get started.
Add the rule as you normally would, then add a separate row for the exception and set its value to "skip." The skip value will display the data as it arrives from the data connector — or, if there is no connector, it will show as 0.
Entering 0 as the value in any row will set that rule's result to zero.
Add a new row (rule) with a new start date/time, and set its value to "skip." This tells the system to disregard whatever rule was previously configured for that period. Note that "skip" is not case-sensitive — you can enter it as "skip" or "Skip."
While the UI allows you to select multiple countries within a single row, CSV uploads require each country to be entered as a separate row.
Yes — Account ID and Sub-Adnetwork are also available as dimensions for configuring rules.
