Engagement Type Reporting FAQ

Singular supports Engagement Type Reporting, giving you a granular breakdown of how users interacted with an ad before converting: whether through a standard click, an engaged click, a view, or an engaged view.

What is Engagement Type Reporting?

Engagement Type Reporting lets you see a breakdown of the specific type of ad interaction (engagement) that led to an install or re-engagement. Instead of only knowing whether a conversion came from a click or an impression, you can distinguish between engagement sub-types such as a standard click, an engaged click, a standard view, or an engaged view.

This gives you a richer picture of how your audience is interacting with your ads and which engagement formats drive the most valuable conversions.

To view Engagement Type data in reporting, add the Engagement Type dimension under Attribution Insights in Singular's reporting interface. It is also available as a column in Export Logs under Conversions.

Note: Engagement Type breakdown is only available for conversions (attributed) data. It is not available for upper funnel metrics. Total click and impression counts include reported engaged clicks and engaged views.

What are the different engagement types?

Singular reports the following engagement types:

Engagement Type Description URL Type
click A standard click on an ad call-to-action. Click URL
engaged_click A click on the ad that is not the call-to-action, such as a business profile or like. The definition may vary by partner. Click URL
view A standard ad impression (view-through). Impression URL
engaged_view A view that reflects a higher-intent interaction with an ad (e.g. watching a certain percentage of a video ad). The definition may vary by partner. Click URL or Impression URL
deep_link The install or re-engagement was attributed via a deep link from a Singular Link. This value is set automatically by Singular; it is not passed by the partner. N/A (set by Singular)
How does Engagement Type Reporting work?

When a supported partner serves an ad, they pass the engagement type to Singular via the pet= parameter on the tracking link. Singular captures this value and makes it available as a dimension in your reports, so you can break down conversions by engagement type.

No additional configuration is needed on the advertiser side. If your partner supports this feature and the integration is set up, the engagement type data will automatically appear in your Singular reports.

Are there separate attribution windows for each engagement type?

No. Engagement types follow the standard attribution windows already configured on your tracking links:

  • Click-based engagement types (click, engaged_click, engaged_view if reported) follow the Click-Through Attribution window.
  • View-based engagement types (view, engaged_view if reported) follow the View-Through Attribution window.
How is attribution priority determined between engagement types?

Attribution priority follows Singular's standard touchpoint prioritization rules: click-through attribution (CTA) takes precedence over view-through attribution (VTA). Engagement type does not alter this priority order.

Within the same link (e.g. if a user triggers multiple touchpoints on the same tracking link), Singular uses the last engagement type recorded before the install or re-engagement occurs. For example, if a link fires click and later engaged_click for the same user, and the app is installed after the second event, the conversion is credited as engaged_click.

To learn more about how Singular prioritizes touchpoints, see Touchpoint Prioritization.

What does Engagement Type = "other" mean?

If you see other as an engagement type in your reports, it means Singular received a pet= value for an engagement type that Singular does not support. If you have any questions on the received value, contact Singular Support.

When is Engagement Type data available?

For launch partners, Engagement Type data is available starting July 28th, 2026. Conversions recorded before this date will not have an Engagement Type value populated.

As additional partners are onboarded, data availability for those partners will begin from their respective launch dates.

Where can I find Engagement Type data in Singular?

Engagement Type is available as a reporting dimension in Singular. When running attribution reports, add Engagement Type as a breakdown dimension to see conversions split by click, engaged_click, view, engaged_view, or deep_link.

Note that Engagement Type data is only available for partners that support the feature (see the table above). For unsupported partners, the dimension will appear as blank or N/A.
